A massive explosion that rattled Hezbollah’s major sites as well as a residential building in Beirut on Friday night got many asking if Israel just nuked Lebanon.
A video trending on social media showed the moment the massive bomb hit Lebanon, creating a massive wave of bright light, just like videos that show the detonation of a nuclear bomb. Video below:
Israel said they conducted massive airstrikes targeting members of Hezbollah’s Radwan special forces unit, missile launchers, and other facilities that housed its weaponry located in southern Lebanon.
The airstrikes left three of Hezbollah’s high-ranking commanders Ahmed Wahbi, Ibrahim Aqil, and Ahmad Mahmoud Wahabi, and 16 other militants dead, as confirmed by Hezbollah. Hezbollah has been a major center of support for the Hamas militants based in Palestine amid the Gaza onslaught.
The Lebanese authorities reported that the attack killed 45 people, including three children and seven women, and left about 60 others with various degrees of injuries. Rescue efforts continue to the third day as 17 people are yet to be accounted for.
The killing of innocent civilians comes in contrast to Israeli’s claim of striking confirmed sites to take out senior members of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Forces in the Beirut suburb.
