David Montgomery Leads Detroit Lions to Overtime Victory Over Rams

On Sunday, the Detroit Lions were able to pull a 26-20 win during overtime against the Los Angeles Rams.

The game, which caps the first Sunday for this year’s NFL season, was held at Fort Field and saw David Montgomery run 91 yards on 17 carries to win a 1-yard touchdown at overtime. According to the NFL, it has been more than seven years since the team had an overtime victory.

Montgomery, who has been dubbed a ‘hero’ for his play, told reporters afterward that he was already “locked in” before the game and that he felt he had to “prove myself to myself.”

“I felt that was the greatest opportunity for that, for me to showcase what I’m capable of, but at the same time showing how much great that the offense in the team has.”

The Detroit Lions coach, Dan Campbell, also had something to say about the 27-year-old running back. Dan told reporters that he found Montgomery to be reliable and that he thinks the athlete is a ‘catalyst’ for the team.

“He starts carrying it, and he gets better and better, and I think the line feeds off of him, and he feeds off of them, and we get what we get. That guy’s a stud. He’s a stud.”

David Montgomery wasn’t the only one who made a splash. His other teammates, such as Alex Anzalone, Jared Goff, and Jameson Williams, made it tough for the Rams to gain the upper hand during Sunday’s game.

Alex Anzalone, the Detroit Lions linebacker, had 13 tackles, while Jared Goff finished with 1 touchdown and 1 interception, and ran for 217 yards with 18-for-28 passing. Jameson Williams ran for 121 yards with 5 catches and 1 touchdown.
