Lakeville’s Regan Smith added another silver for Team USA to her medals at the Paris Olympics on Friday. Smith set the record in the 200-meter backstroke, clocking in at 2:04.26.

Smith finished after Australia’s Kaylee McKeown, another super athlete who finished first with a time of 2:03.73, a record-breaking Olympic win.

The Australian athlete is equally in possession of the world record for the 200-meter backstroke at 2:03.14.

Regan Smith now holds three silver medals in Paris. Tuesday was another good day for her when she carted away a silver medal in the 100-meter backstroke finals, coming in second only after McKeown by just 0.33 seconds.

Lakeville’s athlete grabbed the newest record in the world for the 100-meter backstroke at the June trials. She also added yet another silver in the 200-meter butterfly. She finished with a time of 2:03.84 and came after Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh two days ago.

Smith’s career medal tally now stands at six. With this latest achievement, she previously won two silvers and a bronze at the Tokyo Games in 2021.
