Xander Schauffele has done it again! The 30-year-old American golfer won the 152nd British Open at Royal Troon Golf Club on Sunday. This is his second major victory this year, following his win at the PGA Championship in May.

Schauffele played a fantastic final round, shooting a bogey-free 5-under 66. He finished the tournament at 9-under par, two shots ahead of Justin Rose and Billy Horschel.

“Today was a day where you’re one bad shot away from having a nightmare on certain holes,” Schauffele said, highlighting the challenging conditions at Royal Troon.

The win marks a significant milestone for Xander Schauffele. Before this year, he had never won a major despite many close calls. Now, he’s won two in just nine weeks.

Justin Rose, at 43, put up a strong fight but fell short in his bid for a second major title. Billy Horschel, the leader going into the final round, struggled early but managed to tie for second.

This victory makes Schauffele the first player since Brooks Koepka in 2018 to win two majors in one season. It’s also the first time since 1982 that Americans have won all four major golf tournaments in a year.

Schauffele’s win at the British Open, golf’s oldest major, earns him the title of “Champion Golfer of the Year” and the coveted Claret Jug trophy.

With this victory, Xander Schauffele has silenced doubts about his ability to win major tournaments. He’s now not just a major champion, but a multiple major winner in a single season – a feat that puts him in elite company in the golfing world.
