NABJ: Former President Trump to Address National Association of Black Journalists Convention in Chicago

Former President Trump to Address National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Convention in Chicago

The current Republican presidential nominee, Former President Donald Trump, is scheduled to participate in the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Annual Convention & Career Fair in Chicago on Wednesday.

The NABJ announced this development late Monday. According to them, Trump will be involved in a “conversation and Q&A session” that focuses on the “pressing issues facing the Black community.”

The event will feature a panel of distinguished political journalists moderating the discussion, including Rachel Scott from ABC News, Harris Faulkner from FOX News, and Kadia Goba from Semafor. While the association states that the session will not be open to the public, they still maintain that it will be live-streamed on their YouTube and Facebook pages.

In their news release, NABJ President Ken Lemon spoke about the organization’s commitment to providing a platform for critical discourse, stating,

“We look forward to our attendees hearing from former President Trump on the critical issues our members and their audiences care about most.”

Lemon also clarified that while NABJ does not endorse political candidates, they welcome the opportunity for their members to engage in substantive dialogue.

The convention is scheduled from July 31 to August 4 at the Hilton Chicago and it aims to offer “innovative training, career advancement opportunities and advocacy initiatives for Black journalists and media professionals worldwide.” The NABJ has also extended an invitation to Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate.

Following his appearance at the NABJ convention, Trump is expected to travel to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for a campaign rally. The former president has also announced plans to visit Butler, Pennsylvania, the area of his attempted assassination, in the future.
