There was a stabbing attack in a moving train in Lyon by a migrant man armed with a knife and a hammer.
The attacker identified as a 27-year-old Moroccan man previously unknown to the police has been hospitalised many times for psychiatric issues. The migrant man from Morocco have been facing eminent deportation from France since 2022.

He was also carrying residency papers from Italy and medicines suggesting he was undergoing treatment at the time of the attack on Saturday 7:35am (06:35 GMT).
“This individual appears to suffer from psychiatric troubles,” said Laurent Nunez, the Paris police chief. “There are no elements that lead us to think that this could be a terrorist act.”
The Lyon train stabbing attack left left two people in critical condition, one was moderately injured, and another having minor injuries. According to a statement from a local media, several traumatised witnesses received psychological support.
According to police report, a 17-year-old unaccompanied minor from Guinea suffered the most severe injuries and was undergoing surgery.
The attacker waited till the train started moving before he starting attacking and stabbing the people in his coach with an earlier concealed knife. He was overpowered by passersby before railway police arrived on the scene.
An uptick in crime and insecurity in France is certainly not what visitors woud look forward to as they set to host the Olympic Games, known as Olympic Games Paris 2024.
