Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for “Transformers One,” an animated prequel film that promises to take fans back to the very beginning of the iconic Transformers saga.
Featuring an all-star voice cast led by Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, and Scarlett Johansson, the movie explores the early days of Optimus Prime and Megatron on their home planet of Cybertron.
The trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into the origins of the beloved Autobot and Decepticon leaders, introducing Hemsworth as the young Orion Pax, who would eventually become the legendary Optimus Prime. Henry lends his voice to D-16, the bot destined to become Megatron, Optimus’ greatest rival.
Initially depicted as simple worker bots unable to transform, the footage shows Orion Pax and D-16 gaining the ability to change into powerful vehicles and wield advanced weapons. A mysterious, plant-like villain emerges, setting the stage for an epic battle that will shape the future of Cybertron and the Transformers’ eternal conflict.
In addition to Hemsworth and Henry, the star-studded cast includes Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Keegan-Michael Key as Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, and Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion.
The “Transformers” franchise first captured audiences with an animated movie in 1986, before director Michael Bay brought the iconic robots to life in the live-action blockbuster “Transformers” in 2007. The film grossed a staggering $700 million at the box office and spawned five sequels and a spinoff.
“Transformers One” is directed by Josh Cooley, the acclaimed filmmaker behind “Toy Story 4.” The prequel’s screenplay is written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.
Fans can experience the epic origin story when “Transformers One” arrives in theaters on September 20.
