Rebel Wilson is pulling back the curtain on the challenges and techniques she has utilized while working to improve her health through weight loss over the past few years.
The Pitch Perfect actress recently revealed she has experimented with medications like Ozempic to help curb her appetite as part of her broader lifestyle transformation.
In an interview with The Sunday Times, she stated that she had previously tried the diabetes drug Ozempic, which has seen surging off-label use for weight management.
“Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good,” Wilson explained, though noting she is no longer taking it.
The 44-year-old Aussie, who has shed around 40 pounds since her self-proclaimed “year of health” in 2020, said her initial motivation to slim down stemmed from a fertility specialist advising weight loss could boost her chances of successful IVF treatment and pregnancy.
“Basically no one apart from my mom wanted me to lose weight,” Wilson admitted. “People thought I’d lose my pigeonhole in my career, playing the fat funny character, and they wanted me to continue in that.”
Even after her committed health reset, Rebel Wilson has confronted the difficulty of maintaining weight loss long-term. Earlier this year, she revealed regaining around 30 pounds during a busy filming schedule and working on a new memoir, calling it a source of body image struggles.
“It makes me feel bad about myself…it shouldn’t…but it does,” the brutally honest star stated in an Instagram post that quickly garnered supportive messages from fans relating to her candid admission.
