The world waited with bated breath for Kim Kardashian’s response after Taylor Swift seemed to reignite their infamous feud on her new album Tortured Poets Department. However, Kim’s first public appearance since the album’s release suggests she may be taking the high road this time around.
During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 22nd, she did not address Swift’s apparent diss track “thanK you aIMee” which many interpreted as a pointed jab at the reality star. When asked by Kimmel how life was going, Kim simply replied “Life is good”, avoiding any mention of the brewing musical drama.
The song’s lyrics, which describe “a bronze, spray-tanned statue” and use capitalized letters to spell out “K-I-M”, are hard to miss as references to Kim Kardashian. Lines like “I can’t forgive the way you made me feel” and “she wrote headlines..laughing at each baby step I’d take” allude to the pair’s 2016 feud over Kanye West’s song “Famous.”
Back then, Kim shared edited clips that made it seem like Taylor Swift approved of being called “that b*tch” in West’s lyrics, sparking an intense back-and-forth between the two celebrities. A full recording later leaked that seemed to vindicate Swift’s side of the story.
Despite the harsh lyrics on the new album, Kim may be opting to avoid escalating the feud further. Of course, it’s still early days since the album release, so she may choose to address the diss track more directly in the coming weeks.
