CBS announced its plan to re-air Billy Joel’s 100th consecutive performance at Madison Square Garden after it abruptly ended for certain viewers on Sunday.
During the rendition of “Piano Man,” the broadcast was interrupted by local news broadcasts in various regions.
In response to the fervent demand from his dedicated fanbase, Joel’s complete performance, recorded on March 28, will be broadcast again on Friday, April 19, at 9 p.m. ET, as disclosed by CBS on Monday. Additionally, fans can access Joel’s performance on Paramount+.
Throughout the event, Joel showcased some of his greatest hits, such as “New York State of Mind,” and introduced his latest single, “Turn the Lights Back On.” The concert also featured a special appearance by Sting, who joined Joel on stage to perform “Big Man on Mulberry Street,” along with a guest appearance by Jerry Seinfeld.
The broadcast of Sunday’s special faced delays due to the 2024 Masters Tournament.
Having established a remarkable milestone, Joel has set the record for the most performances at Madison Square Garden. His final show at the venue is scheduled for July 2024.
