Zendaya and Florence Pugh are co-stars in the blockbuster sci-fi sequel, Dune: Part Two, but they also share a love for the UK’s beaches.
The two actresses recently talked about paying a to visit the Isle of Wight’s dunes, which Florence compared to the ones in their film. They also discussed how they would get there by hovercraft, a unique and fun way to travel across the water.
The conversation took place during an interview with Kiss FM, where the Oxford-born Pugh suggested that Zendaya join her on a trip to Bembridge, a village on the eastern tip of the island.
Pugh said that Bembridge has a pebbly beach with sand dunes behind it, which reminded her of the desert planet of Arrakis, where their film is set.
“There are all these dunes that are right behind the beach and it’s really cool and weird and they’re beautiful.”
She also mentioned that Bembridge has an old mini golf course that was given by Queen Victoria to the people, but is now overgrown and surrounded by dunes.
Zendaya seemed intrigued by her proposal and agreed to go with her. Pugh then recommended that they take the Hovertravel ferry, which departs from Portsmouth and takes only 10 minutes to reach the island.
The two stars, who have become friends after working together on the film, have been praising each other’s performances and personalities in interviews. Pugh, who plays the intelligent Princess Irulan, said that Zendaya was “amazing” and “beautiful” in the film, and that she was “so lovely” to work with. Zendaya, who is also a singer and producer, said that Pugh was “incredible” and “talented” in the film, and that she was “so sweet” and “funny” in real life.
Dune: Part Two, which is directed by Denis Villeneuve and based on the second half of Frank Herbert’s novel, was released in the UK on Friday. The film, which also stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, and many more, has received rave reviews and has broken box office records.
