Grammy-winning singer Karol G and her crew had a terrifying experience on Thursday night, when their private jet had to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles due to smoke in the cockpit.
The Colombian reggaeton star and 15 other passengers were on board the Gulfstream aircraft, which took off from Hollywood Burbank Airport and was heading east. However, the pilot reported a fire in the cockpit and turned back to land at Van Nuys Airport around 9 p.m.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, and Karol G and her entourage were seen hugging and thanking the pilot after getting off the plane. Airport emergency crews were also on the scene to inspect the plane and determine the cause of the malfunction.
A video of the tense moments was shared by ABC7 Eyewitness News on X, formerly called Twitter.
While fans have gone online to express their relief about the star’s well-being, with one writing on X, “Praying 👏🏼 @karolg and everyone who was with her on this ✈️ Happy that everyone is safe. Thank you for the quick response fireman’s & first responders 🙏🏼😘💋”, Karol G still hasn’t commented on the plane incident on her social media accounts.
Karol G was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year for 2024 back in February and is expected to be honored at the Billboard Women in Music Awards taking place on March 6th. The Colombian artist is well known for her hit songs such as “Tusa”, “Bichota”, and “Mañana Será Bonito”.
