Josh Brolin, the acclaimed actor known for his role as Gurney Halleck in “Dune 2,” recently took to the Saturday Night Live stage with a monologue that has everyone talking.
One of the major highlights was when Brolin took the time to address the “super creepy” poem he penned about his co-star Timothée Chalamet, which is featured in his book, Dune: Exposures.
The poem he humorously defended reads:
“The way you hold my gaze/makes me fear my own age. Because something in me tells me/You are going to offer me something and,/for now/I’m not sure/it’s going to be/something/I want anymore.”
While the lines may suggest to something romantic, the actor maintains that he doesn’t “want to sleep with him (Chalamet), but that’s what I do — I write poems about everyone I work with.”
Josh Brolin’s self-awareness shone through as he joked about writing poems for all his co-stars, including a humorous ode to Kenan Thompson’s “ageless face” and “sultry eyes.” But the monologue took an unexpected turn when the 56-year-old stripped down to his underwear, comparing the vulnerability of an ice bath plunge to the experience of hosting SNL.
The audience was treated to more of his comedic chops in a sketch where he played a robber in his underwear, alongside cast member Heidi Gardner.
Josh Brolin’s appearance on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live was a memorable one with its bold comedy. Most viewers felt that it was a performance that was as endearing as it was entertaining.
