Machine Gun Kelly has released a new single and video titled ‘Dont Let Me Go’, in which he reveals some personal and painful details about his life.
The song, which premiered on Wednesday, is a piano-driven ballad that showcases MGK’s rap skills and emotional vulnerability.
In the lyrics, MGK confesses that he had a ‘breakdown’ before getting his massive new tattoo, which covers his entire chest and arms with black ink.
He also mentions the miscarriage that he and his fiancee’ suffered, which Fox wrote about in her poetry book ‘The Book of Megan’ in 2023. He raps:
‘How can I live with the fact/ That my hand wasn’t on her stomach when we lost the baby?/ I don’t got no one to turn to/ Because everyone’s dead in my life that was tryna raise me.’
The video is directed by Sam Cahill and features MGK looking into the camera with different backdrops, such as a piano, a forest, and the city skyline of Cleveland, his hometown.
He also shows off his new tattoo, which he said was ‘for spiritual purposes only’ in an Instagram post earlier this week. The tattoo reportedly took 13 sessions of six hours each to complete in Los Angeles.
MGK’s new song is a departure from his previous rock-oriented releases, such as his 2022 album ‘Mainstream Sellout’, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. His last rap album was ‘Hotel Diablo’ in 2019, which was also well-received.
Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox have been dating since 2020 and got engaged in January 2024. They met on the set of the movie ‘Midnight in the Switchgrass and have been inseparable ever since.
