New Zealand secured a huge victory (288/6) against Afghanistan (139/9), their fourth win at the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
With fifties from Will Young (54), Tom Latham (68), and Glenn Phillips (71), the Kiwis made 288 for 6 in just 34.4 overs.
Afghanistan, who had defeated champions England, had only one player above thirty, Rahmat Shah (36).
Pacer Lockie Ferguson and left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner took three wickets each. Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan got back-to-back wickets.
They played the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai with New Zealand in 2nd position behind India and Afghanistan in 6th.
New Zealand was without Kane Williamson who did not play in the match due to a thumb injury.
Afghanistan were down to 43 for 3 by the 14th over, with skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (8) being the third man to be dismissed.
