Brighton moved to fifth position in the Premier League table after defeating Bournemouth 2-1 on Saturday.

Brighton took lead of the game after goals at the start of both the first and second half from João Pedro and Kaoru Mitoma. The team could not do much after Carlos Baleba received a red card in the 59th minute.

João Pedro scored the first goal of the match after taking advantage of Danny Welbeck’s interplay with Georginio Rutter in the 4th minute. Mitoma scored the second goal in the 49th minute to double Brighton’s lead with a shot into the bottom corner.

David Brooks scored a goal in response to Brighton’s lead in the stoppage time, followed by Antoine Semenyo’s effort hitting the bar five minutes later. Despite the late pressure from Bournemouth, it was not enough to stop Brighton from winning the game.

João Pedro was hailed by Brighton’s head coach, Fabian Hürzeler, discussing his contribution to the game both in possession and of the ball. “He’s a leader on the pitch, doing crucial work even when unseen,” he said.

Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth discussed the narrow margins, highlighting clinical strike as Brighton’s lead. The loss for Bournemouth comes after their 3-2 loss to Brentford.
