Fulham has signed Alex Iwobi from Everton and the 27-year-old Nigerian forward has signed a five-year contract till June 2028.
Iwobi moved from Arsenal to Everton in 2019 and he was quickly integrated as a solid member of the starting eleven. He had a year left on his Everton deal and he could have walked away a free player if he did not extend it next year.
Speaking about the transfer, Iwobi said:
“I’m buzzing, I just can’t wait to get started, I’m excited to start my journey here,” he told Fulham’s official website.
“Marco Silva (Fulham manager) spoke to me about the ambitions of the club, and I’m on board.
“Hopefully I can bring something to the club.”
Fulham sports director Tony Khan said Iwobi is a versatile player whom the London club has followed for some time and believes his experience in the Premier League will help them.
“He’s an exciting and versatile player whom we’ve admired for some time,” he remarked.
“He has experience in the Premier League and international competition with Nigeria.
“We’re excited that Alex has joined us on a long-term contract, and we believe that he’ll make a valuable contribution to Marco’s squad!”
