Tottenham crashed out of the Carabao Cup in the second round, after they lost to Premier League counterparts, Fulham on penalties.
Tottenham went into the match as the favorite, due to their outstanding form since the beginning of the new season.
Micky van de Ven put Fulham in front after he scored an own goal in the 19th minute.
The Spurs improved after the break and Manor Solomon almost got a dream winner against his former side late on, but his curled effort from the edge of the box was saved.
Richarlison was one of just two players – along with Van de Ven – to retain his place in the side from Tottenham’s 2-0 win against Bournemouth.
Head coach, Ange Postecoglou made nine changes from his starting 11.
Spurs leveled through Richarlison, but Fulham were temporarily reduced to 10 men when Kenny Tete had to change his boot. The visiting side took full advantage and Richarlison, who really needed a goal, put a header in the back of the net.
Both teams were leveled in stoppage time and they went straight to penalties.
But Davinson Sanchez’s penalty was saved as Fulham won the shootout.
