Victor Osimhen got a double against newly promoted Frosinone to kickstart their new season campaign with a win.
It was the home side who took the lead in the seventh minute, thanks to a well-earned penalty. They started threatening from the beginning of the match.
Jaime Baez was kicked to the ground by the slashing advance of Napoli’s Jens Cajuste, whose leg just cut Baez’s knee.
Abdou Harroui scored for the home side.
Matteo Politano leveled the game for Napoli in the 24th minute, sending the ball beyond the reach of the Frosinone keeper.
Raspadori’s goal was ruled out for offside 10 minutes later. Osimhen put Napoli in front just before halftime. His captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo used his strength to hold off the defender and make space for his striker, cut the ball across to Osimhen in the middle who sent it to the top of the roof.
The Nigerian forward got his second of the game, sending in a sweet pass from the right into the back of the net.
It looked like it might have been offside, but a VAR review allowed the goal to stand.
