Keanu Reeves gave his John Wick: Chapter 4 stunt team fitting and unique personalized gifts – a t-shirt which listed how many times they died during the making of the blockbuster action movie.
Reeves gifted the film’s stunt crew with t-shirts that had the number of deaths each stunt person faced in the movie. For some of the stunt crew, that number was above 20.
The stunt person had many deaths because John Wick: Chapter 4” re-used stunt workers in multiple scenes. For the classic staircase fight where Reeves’ John Wick fights the bad guys as he runs up the 222 steps leading to the Sacré-Coeur Basilica (only to be pushed back down to the bottom and have to do it all over again), the making of the movie used 35 stunt workers, many of whom had repeated deaths in the scene.
Speaking on that particular scene, fight coordinator Jeremy Marinas told The Times about the moment director Chad Stahelski talked about the staircase scene with him; “It’s like, of course that’s what you want,” he said.
“You want 100 guys falling down the stairs and you want me to make every reaction and fall different. Of course, you do. It was like we were just another day at work.”
“We all know how hard it is just to walk upstairs when we don’t want to. Just to think about how well Keanu — not John Wick — Keanu was able to do shooting upwards while stepping. It’s hard enough to be a marksman on flat ground.”
Getting that scene out took a team of skilled stunt performers whom Reeves wanted to honor for their hard work and dedication to the movie.
With Wick dispatching dozens of enemies, each stunt person was often slain multiple times throughout a single action sequence.
Reeves is known as one of the nicest people in Hollywood and is known for giving gifts.
The t-shirts were also not the first gift given to the John Wick: Chapter 4 stunt team, with Reeves also giving out wrap gifts in 2021. His five-person stunt team received Rolex Submariner watches, each costing about $10,000, with a personalized message on the back of each one when the film wrapped.
Reeves is known as one of the nicest people in Hollywood and is known for giving gifts.
After filming The Matrix Resurrections, Reeves thanked his stunt team with an all-expense paid trip to the film’s premiere, including tickets, and hotel rooms. He even got private jets to fly them in.
Years before that, he bought Harley-Davidson motorcycles for the stunt team he worked with on The Matrix Reloaded.
Reeves is popularly known for his generosity and kindness like giving up his seat on a bus or buying ice cream to emblazon a receipt with his autograph for a fan. He also funds charities, donating his money to cancer research and children’s hospitals.
