The Mega Millions jackpot grew to $1.1 billion after no ticket matched all winning numbers over roughly the past three months.
If a winner emerges on Tuesday’s drawing, it would be the third-largest jackpot win in Mega Millions history and the fifth-largest in U.S. lottery history. It would also make the fourth time in roughly four years that the crown prize has gone past $1 billion.
Tonight’s drawing offers an estimated cash value of $576.8 million, and if there is no Jackpot winner, the jackpot prize for the Friday, Jan. 13 drawing will roll to an estimated $1.35 billion.
The winning numbers for Tuesday night’s $1.1 billion Mega Millions jackpot drawing were 7, 13, 14, 15, 18 with a Mega Ball of 9.
According to Mega Millions, they have sold over 27 million winning tickets and had 24 drawings since the last jackpot which was won on October 14, 2022. Also, 52 people have won $1 million or over in the games.
How Is Mega Millions Lottery Played
Mega Millions is played by picking five numbers from 70 and one Mega Ball number from the second field of 25 numbers. To win the Mega Millions jackpot, a player must match all six numbers drawn including the Mega Ball. Players matching fewer numbers could still become winners but will not win the jackpot.
Advising potential players and winners, Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery said; “We want to remind our players to play responsibly and that it only takes one ticket to win. If it appears that you have the jackpot-winning ticket, we encourage you to sign the ticket, put it in a safe place, seek financial and legal advice and call the Texas Lottery to schedule an appointment to claim the prize.”
Drawings are broadcast every Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 p.m. CT. Texas Lottery players can buy Mega Millions tickets from over 20,000 Texas Lottery retailers in the state. Ticket sales for the next Mega Millions drawing will stop at 9:45 p.m. CT on Tuesday, January 10. A retail vendor that sells a jackpot-winning Mega Millions ticket may be eligible to receive up to a $1 million retailer bonus.
