According to Belgian broadcaster VRT, the Dutch police have detained a fourth suspect in connection with the attempted kidnapping of Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne of Belgium. The Public Prosecution Service has reported that the suspect is a Dutch man aged 21.

In The Hague, the fourth man was taken into custody at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Three suspects, ages 20, 29, and 48, were taken into custody on Saturday in The Hague and Leidschendam. The people had been pursued by Belgian police all the way to the Dutch border. At Van Quickenborne’s house, the suspects abandoned a car with Dutch license plates that were loaded with explosives and weapons.

The Belgian minister declared on Saturday that he would not attend many events in the coming days and that he had been given additional security as a precaution. He wrote, “It’s not nice, but comprehensible.” “My wife and children are right now my first priority as a father. They are responsible for the results even though they did not choose this.”

A kidnapping attempt was stopped, Van Quickenborne said in a video message later on Saturday. Police, according to the VRT, thought the clients were “international drug barons.”
