Roman Reigns, who defeated Drew McIntyre in Cardiff, managed to defend his title despite the odds and with a little assistance from Solo Sikoa. With Austin Theory’s Money in the Bank cash-in as an additional impending threat, Clash at the Castle was an especially difficult obstacle to cross, but The Tribal Chief has both titles in his possession and a new ally to support him in The Bloodline.
In reality, despite taking a beating, Reigns is emerging from this situation stronger than ever.
However, if you’re at the top of the food chain, everyone below you still views you as their ultimate objective. Many opponents are willing to face Roman Reigns for those titles.
The next thing that needs to be done right away is to take a step back and discuss what happened in Cardiff. Recapturing those events and running commercials about the champion keeping his championship normally fills at least a portion of a program on WWE.
The main focus will be on McIntyre’s explanation of his defeat, his reiteration of his commitment to continue competing for the title, and how he will be pursuing retaliation against Sikoa.
Roman Reigns will be present, but he won’t be the star. Sami Zayn and The Usos will be much more involved and hands-on with Sikoa, particularly in any tag team matches that may result from this. Reigns is most likely not going to wrestle before October 8 at Extreme Rules.
Even while Friday Night SmackDown occasionally has a significant bout, Reigns seldom competes on television, much less in a title defence with a pay-per-view right around the horizon.
If he wrestles at all, it will likely be in a tag team bout or another situation where his options are limited.
After skipping a couple of expensive live events earlier this year, there’s even a chance he will miss Extreme Rules. However, WWE is at least promoting The Bloodline’s involvement with Paul Heyman serving as the face of the show’s ads.
Two months remain until Saudi Arabia’s Crown Jewel, which is scheduled on November 5. Reigns will undoubtedly compete there because they are paid events that demand the top names.
Reigns won’t leave his belt uncontested for more than two months, at the very least. He will require a challenger at either Extreme Rules, Crown Jewel, or both events.
