Monty Panesar, England Cricket Star, To Run With George Galloway’s Political Party

Former cricketing star Monty Panesar has emerged as a fresh face in the political arena, stepping into the spotlight as a candidate for George Galloway‘s Workers Party of Britain in the upcoming general election.

Expressing his desire to advocate for the working class, Panesar sees Parliament as a platform to represent the voices of ordinary citizens.

The announcement took place amidst the unveiling of numerous Workers Party candidates, orchestrated by Galloway himself in the iconic setting of Parliament Square. Galloway, the Rochdale MP, boasted of the party’s significant progress, claiming to have already identified 500 potential candidates for the impending election.

While Galloway hinted at potential defections from the Labour camp, citing discussions with a Labour peer and three MPs considering a switch, he refrained from disclosing their identities until their commitment is confirmed.

Hailing from Luton, Panesar sets his sights on challenging Labour’s Virendra Sharma in Ealing Southall, West London, with ambitions to overturn Sharma’s substantial 16,000-vote majority.

Amidst the excitement of the event, Panesar received a warm introduction to the crowd of Workers Party candidates and supporters by a jubilant George Galloway, marking the beginning of his political journey with enthusiasm.
