Laura Whitmore Set For A Comeback On The Irish Stage


Renowned Irish television presenter Laura Whitmore is set to grace the Irish stage once again, alongside esteemed actors Shona McGarty from EastEnders and Colin O’Donoghue of The Tudors fame, as they bring the West End hit “2:22: A Ghost Story” to Dublin this June.

Whitmore, a native of Bray, previously made her theatrical debut in the London production, portraying the character Jenny. Now, she will take on the role of Lauren at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre from August 20th to 11th.

Joining her onstage will be McGarty as Jenny, Jay McGuiness of The Wanted fame as Ben, and O’Donoghue, known for his roles in “Once Upon A Time” and “The Right Stuff,” as Sam.

“2:22 – A Ghost Story” premiered in the summer of 2021 at London’s Noël Coward Theatre, featuring Lily Allen, Julia Chan, Hadley Fraser, and Jake Wood. The production received critical acclaim and garnered the WhatsOnStage award for Best Play.

Whitmore’s journey in the performing arts has been multifaceted. Trained at the Leinster School of Music and Drama, she further honed her craft by studying Shakespeare at RADA and earning a degree in Journalism from Dublin City University. Her talents extend beyond the stage, as she has written and starred in the award-winning short film “Sadhbh” and toured in Peter James’ “Not Dead Enough.”

Her diverse acting portfolio includes appearances in Hulu’s “Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “,” “Storage 24,” and RTE’s “Finding Joy.” Additionally, audiences can anticipate seeing her in Channel 4’s and Disney’s drama series “Queenie,” along with her debut lead role in the feature film “A Mother For An Hour,” slated for release later this year.
