Olivia Wilde advised against listening to stories circulating about the “Don’t Worry Darling” set. For months, talk has swirled around the highly publicized production of “Don’t Worry Darling,” which stars Florence Pugh and Harry Styles as a suburban couple involved in a plot.
In addition to firing Shia LaBeouf before FKA Twigs alleged that he had abused her, director Olivia Wilde and actor, Styles, are now romantically involved. The idea of a “Don’t Worry Darling” feud has also been fueled by rumors that Pugh and Wilde had a falling out on the set. Pugh is said to have disagreed with Wilde about the movie’s message regarding female sexuality.
There’s also the persistent notion that Styles, an international pop singer, got paid more than three times as much as Pugh, an Oscar candidate. Pugh received $700,000 for the movie, according to the website Showbiz Galore, while Styles earned $2.5 million. No sources were named, and Warner Bros. declined to comment on their pay.
However, Wilde debunked all unseemly allegations in a recent Variety cover story. Actually, Pugh was Wilde’s initial choice for the role of Alice, one half of the central pair in the movie. That is, after Wilde turned down the part herself to make the lead character younger.
Regarding the salaries, Wilde refuted the wage disparity.
Wilde believes that by criticizing and pitting female filmmakers and creatives against one another, we are all participating in the communal denigration of women.
