Peter Murphy, the band’s vocalist, has entered rehab, and BAUHAUS has had to postpone the remainder of their North American dates for 2022.
The early adopters of post-punk and goth were slated to begin a tour next month, with dates throughout September. The point of purchase should be contacted by ticket holders for a refund.
In a brief statement, a representative for Bauhaus said that Peter Murphy would be entering a rehabilitation facility to take care of his health and well-being.
In 2019, shortly after Murphy had a heart attack and had to postpone several of his solo shows, Bauhaus came back together for a small number of performances.
This past March, in addition to all of their live performances, Bauhaus also released “Drink the Wine,” their first brand-new song in 14 years. The band used the Surrealists’ “exquisite corpse” method to write the song during the Covid-19 lockdown, with each member coming up with a section without knowing what the others had written. The song was Bauhaus’ first new composition since the release of their album Go Away White in 2008.
