In her final interview, Anne Heche was questioned about allegations that her ex-girlfriend Ellen DeGeneres’ program had a “toxic” work environment. The 53-year-old actress was formally declared brain dead on Thursday.

After coming out, actresses Anne and Ellen dated from 1997 to 2000. However, after the year 2000, when Anne’s mental health started to deteriorate, their relationship ended.
Following the publication of a BuzzFeed News article in which current and former staff members of the program alleged having ‘toxic’ experiences on production, Ellen was rocked last summer. Ratings and viewership on the show dropped.
As the scandal grew and Warner Bros. Television and its producer, Telepicture, launched an investigation in response to claims that the set of the show was “dominated by fear,” the popular talk show lost viewers when it returned to the air.
