Beyoncé’s upcoming album, Renaissance, leaked a few days before its official release. Bey disclosed some of the samples she utilized, including “Get Along With You” by Kelis.
Sadly, it appears that Beyoncé did not obtain Kelis’ consent before using the sample.
The inclusion of the artist on Beyoncé’s album was applauded on her fan page, but the “Milkshake” singer appeared to vent her anger from her own account in the comment section.
Beyoncé and The Neptunes, who created the song, allegedly left Kelis out of any discussions over the sample’s use.
“My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding. I heard about this the same way everyone else did. Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled,” Kelis wrote.
Fans were shocked by her comments, but Kelis has been quite open about her troubles with the music business.
She admitted that she was never paid for the albums that Pharrell and Chad Hugo created for her in 2020. Before that, she expressed disbelief that her obscure record Wanderland was now available for streaming.
