Cullercoats beach has been sealed after the dead body of a man was found in the morning preceding Christmas eve.
The police have opened an investigation to unravel the probable cause of death. Speaking on the incident, an officer said;
“Shortly after 9.45am today (Friday) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a man on the beach front at Cullercoats.
“Officers attended and found a man who was sadly deceased. Formal identification has yet to take place and investigations are ongoing.”
