President Joe Biden and others gathered at the US Capitol to pay their last respect to former Senator Bob Dole who died in his sleep on 5 December.
Bob Dole’s casket was wrapped with the American flag and the event saw about a hundred guests in attendance.
Biden spoke on his colleague and friend of 25 years saying”…We may follow his wisdom and his timeless truth and reach consensus on the basic fundamental principles we all agree on”.

Dole’s funeral will be held at the Washington National Cathedral and will be live-streamed at the World War II Memorial on the National Mall.
The motorcade carrying his casket will travel to his Kansas hometown and the state capital, where he will be buried at the Arlington National Cemetery.
