The Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the managing director of First Bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo, for questioning again.

Nnamdi Okonkwo has been questioned by the EFCC when he was MD of Fidelity Bank.

The reason for the date with EFCC was not officially made known but is thought to be his involvement with the transfer of $153.3 million from the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission (NNPC) to Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s former petroleum minister.

Nnamdi Okonkwo was involved in the movement of funds as he was the MD of Fidelity Bank at that time.

It was reported that the EFCC detained Nnamdi Okonkwo on April 28, 2016, and he was charged with money laundering in a 14-count charge.

No comment has been heard from the board of FBN Holdings Plc who appointed him the new MD of First bank effective January 1, 2022.
