Lil Nas X opened up that he wanted Drake and Nicki Minaj to feature in his Montero album but they declined.
The 15 track album which was released on 17 November, climbed to number 2 in the US Billboard 200 chart.
There are rumors that the reason why Drake and Nicki Minaj declined Lil Nas X request to feature in his Montero album was because it was going to be “all full of gay stuff”.
Lil Nas X wanted Drake to feature on ‘Dolla Sign Slime,’ with Megan (Thee Stallion) and have Nicki Minaj feature in ‘Industry Baby’.
However, he was turned down by both rappers. Drake whom Lil Nas X regarded as his Idol according to BuzzFeed, told him he was too busy with his 6th studio album, “Certified Lover Boy”. However, Lil Nas X was quick to admit that he’s set to overthrow Drake’s spot in the music industry.
“Nobody even thought that I would be here. Everybody was like, ‘One-hit-wonder this, one-hit-wonder that.’ And now it’s amazing that my competition was Drake.”
While Nicki Minaj didn’t even bother to give him a reply when he sent her a request to feature in the “Industry Baby” song.
However, Lil Nas X shared gave an upvote to the grapevine gist that Nicki Minaj and perhaps Drake, turned down his request to feature in his songs in the Montero album, because it was just going to be all out about gay when he said;
“Yeah, but you know, I feel like things always work out. Jack Harlow ended up being, like, the best option. I’m not sure how comfortable Nicki would have felt with that video or whatnot.”
