Reason FG To Monitor Whatsapp Messages, Phone Calls, SMS, Social Media!

The Nigerian Government under Buhari has budgeted 4.8 Billion Naira to procure equipment that will enable them to monitor people’s social media accounts and conversations such as Whatsapp messages, phone calls, SMS messages, and others.

The whooping cost of allocation was contained in the supplementary 2021 budget passed by the national assembly, and the funds were for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) to monitor WhatsApp encrypted messages, and Thuraya, a satellite telephone

The end purpose of the 4.8 Billion Naira worth of telecommunication tracking equipment was not made known, but it is suspected to be related to tracking the communications and activities of terrorists and kidnappers whose activities have been alarming.
