how abacha died Al Mustapha

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to General Sani Abacha has finally revealed how the former Head of State died.

According to the former CSO and contrary to public opinion, Abacha didn’t die after eating an apple, poisoned or not!

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, while narrating to Thisday, reported that Gen Sani Abacha suddenly became very ill after he shook hands with a security personnel accompanying Yasser Arafat, the Philistine President then.

According to Hamza Al-Mustapha;

“Shortly after the handshake, I noticed the change in the countenance of the late Commander-in-Chief, and I immediately informed the Aide-de-Camp, Lt. Col. Abdallah, who advised that we keep a close watch on him.

“Later in the evening of June 8, 1998, around 6 p.m., his doctor came around and administered an injection to stabilise him. He was advised to have a short rest.

“At about 5 a.m., the security guards ran to my quarters to inform me that Abacha was very unstable.”

He added that when he got to the bedside of Late Gen Sani Abacha, he met him gasping for air. He sought permission to carry Abacha, as it was against their code of ethics to touch him, but there was no response.

Hamza Al-Mustapha then called the Head of State’s personal physician who came in and gave administered two doses of injection on Abacha; one in the heart and another close to the neck, but Abacha only went cold. Then the physician pronounced him dead.
