The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) announced that they would go on strike due to arrears owed by the Federal Government. The union accused the Federal Government of gross negligence as the government officials failed to turn up for the agreed meeting.
They held that they were paid last two month’s salaries but were shocked as most of their members got a 30% reduction and some allowances accrued to others were omitted.
The strike, which is not the first, always comes during the yuletide season, a time in which the need for petroleum products spikes.
