Okada riders clashed with Lagos State Task Force, chasing the armed men away and setting bonfires on the road. The uprising started from Amuwo-Odofin, Festac, and Mile-2 axis then spread to Ikeja Along.
It was gathered that the Okada riders were fed up with the restriction of routes imposed on them by the Lagos State Government, though the leader of the Okada association in Lagos state choose to abide by the rules. Some of the okada riders alleged that the same task force and police would collect bribes from them and allow them to ply such banned routes, at other times, they would suddenly swoop on them and impound their motorcycles.
These irregularities have caused them unquantifiable losses as the leader of the Okada association does not come to their aid when any member was found wanting.
Hence, they decided to take laws into their hands to come together and chase off any task force found around the area. It was unclear if the bonfires set was done by the okada riders or other miscreants.
