Kim Kardashian West, Mark Ruffalo, Others Protest Hate Speech & Fake News- Suspends Facebook & Instagram

The fight against hate speech and fake news in the media just took another leap, as prominent media actors such as Kim Kardashian and Mark Ruffalo deactivated some of their social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram in protest. They argue that the social media giant is not doing enough to combat its rise.

Also, Nigerian Investigative Journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, joined the league, as she put her social media accounts to sleep, except Twitter. She also monetized her Twitter account and currently sets restrictions on some of her tweets. This came after she alleged that Megachicken degraded her by branding her “Yellow Journalist”.

We hope Facebook, Instagram, and other media giants resolve this matter soon.

Should hate speech and other forms of misinformation be prosecutable? Let us know your opinion in the comment section below.
