The Centre of Excellence, in its bid to promote Tourism within its confines, has released its calendar containing over 70 arts and culture programmes for 2018.
The Commissioner of Tourism, Steve Ayorinde, said the effort is, amongst others, geared towards portraying the image of Lagos as art-friendly and make events planning, tour bookings and business decisions easier for tour operators and the general public. It also aims to make the State stand out in Africa, as the best economically and culturally active state.
Major events listed in the calendar include:
Gidi Fest
- Lagos Water Regatta
- Fanti Carnival
- Comedy Festival (incorporating Lagos Laughs on World Laughter Day)
- Eko Art Expo
- Indigenous Cultural Festival in Epe
- Wazobia FM Carnival
- Lagos City Marathon
- Lagos Golf Funfair
- Lagos Cinefest
- Lagos Fishing Festival
- Akwaaba Travel Market
- Faaji Agba – a special concert for the elderly to mark World Elders Day.
Its worthy to note that the State’s Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, in a show of support for the sector, kick-started the year with his attendance at Ali Baba’s Jan 1st comedy concert at Eko Hotel.
