A photographer has captured an image of Christ the Redeemer statue “carrying” the full moon with both outstretched hands.
The Brazilian photographer named Leonardo Sens has sought to capture the record-breaking picture for the past three years.
After many attempts, he was finally able to snap the Christ the Redeemer monument holding the moon as it went down.
Leonardo Sens said he had been studying the moon’s position over those years and knew the exact time the moon would alight with the giant statue. He was once close to capturing the stellar photo but was prevented by the clouds.
Sens finally succeded to take the iconic shot from Icaraí Beach in the Rio de Janeiro municipality of Niterói, about seven miles away from where the towering statue is located atop the Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca National Park, Brazil.
