Atlanta-based rapper Young Scooter, alias Kenneth Bailey has died after bleeding profusely from a fatal leg injury while fleeing from the Atlanta Police.
Young Scooter was one of the suspects involved in an incident in the 200 block of William Nye Drive SE in Atlanta. There were also reports that the suspects may have taken a female hostage.
Some residents had called the police to report a disturbance with a weapon, and the authorities were on their way immediately.
When they got to the location, they knocked and a male answered the door. Immediately he opened it and saw the officers, he shut the door and ran.
While the officers tried to gain control of the area, two suspects made a run from the back of the house and the police followed in pursuit. The first suspect ran back into the house when he discovered the police were on his heels.
The other suspect, who happened to be Young Scooter, kept running and attempted to jump two fences to get away from the police.
However, he was not successful. When the police got to him, he was bleeding from a severe leg injury. The officers quickly tended to his injury and took him to the hospital. But their efforts did little to salvage the already fatal situation.
Scooter did not make it out of the hospital alive. Speaking about the incident, the Atlanta Police kept reiterating that Scooter lost his life while he was trying to flee from the police before media outlets carried another narrative.
This is yet another senseless loss of life due to violence in certain parts of Atlanta. Nobody had to die that day.
According to Atlanta’s medical examiner’s office, Young Scooter’s leg was fractured from the way he fell. The officers in pursuit did not fire any shots.
