Marc Fogel, American Hostage Hits US Soil after 3 Full Years In Russian Captivity

American hostage Marc Fogel, who had been detained in Russia since August 2021, has been released back to his country after interventions from the United States government.

The ex-detainee was serving a 14-year sentence after he was arrested at the Moscow airport for the possession of drugs. Although his family claimed it was medically prescribed marijuana, Fogel was still arrested and convicted.

Nevertheless, Trump’s administration worked tirelessly to bring the history teacher back to his home and they filed their promises.

“MARC FOGEL IS BACK!!! PROMISES MADE, PROMISES KEPT!!!” the White House wrote on X, formally Twitter.

When Fogel landed on U.S. soil, he had nothing but gratitude for Trump and his administration.

“I want you to know that I am not a hero in this at all. And President Trump is a hero,” Fogel said after meeting Trump.

“These men that came from the diplomatic service are heroes,” Fogel continued. “The senators and representatives that passed legislation in my honor – they got me home – they are heroes.”

Fogel added: “I am in awe of what they all did.” He could not hide his excitement as he called himself the luckiest man alive.

While Fogel’s release is great, nobody knows what the United States had to give Russia in return. When Donald Trump was asked about it, he replied, ‘Not much’.

“We are beyond grateful, relieved, and overwhelmed that after more than three years of detention, our father, husband, and son, Marc Fogel, is finally coming home,” Fogel’s family said in a statement.

“Thanks to the unwavering leadership of President Trump, Marc will soon be back on American soil, free where he belongs. This has been the darkest and most painful period of our lives, but today, we begin to heal,” the statement added.
