Ipswich records a historic victory during their last game of 2024 after defeating Chelsea 2-0 in the Premier League at Portman Road.
Ipswich Town, which has been longing for a home win against the Blues, finally got their wish in the 2024-25 campaign on their 10th attempt, as they avoided a record of going winless in their first 10 matches at home.
The Tractor Boys netted the first early in the 12th minute through a penalty that was successfully converted by Liam Delap after he was fouled by Filip Jørgensen, Chelsea’s goalkeeper. This goal makes it Delap’s seventh goal this season in the Premier League.
While Chelsea created a lot of chances that could have ended the first half in a draw, Ipswich scored their second goal eight minutes after the commencement of the second half.
Omari Hutchinson, who joined Ipswich in a transfer deal from the Blues in the summer, scored against his former club to record his second league goal of the season after an assist from Delap.
The defeat for Chelsea is an embarrassing loss during the hold after recording just a point in their last three games, cementing Liverpool’s chance of getting closer to winning the league.
