A reigning WMA Gold Cruiserweight winner from Puerto Rica, Paul Bamba has passed away as by his manager, American singer Ne-Yo, who made the announcement on Friday. Bamba was 35 years old.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved son, brother, friend and boxing champion Paul Bamba, whose light and love touched countless lives,” the statement read.
“He was a fierce yet confident competitor with an unrelenting ambition to achieve greatness. But more than anything, he was a tremendous individual that inspired many with his exceptional drive and determination,” the statement continued. “We are heartbroken by his passing and kindly ask for privacy and understanding during this difficult time as we collectively navigate our grief.”
This death comes after days that Bamba has his last fight which he won on December 21 in New Jersey against Rogelio Medina, where he earned the world record. Fighter Paul Bamba won all his 14 winning this year through knockout.
The shocking news was made public through his manager, an American RnB singer, Ne-Yo, who signed the late fighter as the first athlete to his management company last month. The news was shared on a joint statement on Instagram by the singer and Bamba’s family.
The boxing world is currently grieving after Bamba’s loss, with a colleague Jake Paul, whom the late fighter had called out after his last fight posting on X: “RIP Paul Bamba.”
