Last-minute holiday shopping is still ongoing, and errands often arise, whether it is picking up those items that were forgotten or grabbing a quick gift.
Many businesses are not open on Christmas Day and the day before to give workers the time to bond again with their loved ones. This year, Christmas Day, December 25, falls on Wednesday, while Christmas Eve, December 24, falls on Tuesday.
Grocery Stores:
Albertsons Companies’ stores, which include Safeway, Jewel-Osco, and Vons, will be open for just reduced hours on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, with most of them closed on Wednesday, Christmas Day. These businesses may likely open with hours that are adjusted. Kroger and its banners, like Ralphs and King Soopers, will not be open on Christmas Day.
Whole Foods, Aldi, and Trader Joe’s will not be open on Christmas Day but will be open on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, with adjusted hours. Costco will not be open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, while Sam’s Club will be shut down at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and not be open on Christmas Day.
Retail Stores:
Walmart and Target will be open on Christmas Eve but will close early while they will be on lock on Christmas Day. Macy’s, Kohl’s, and Nordstrom also close Christmas Day after adjusted hours on Christmas Eve.
Financial Institutions and Postal Services:
Most banks and the NYSE will be shut down on Christmas Day. USPS and FedEx will also not provide services on Christmas Day, with very reduced availability time for UPS.
Pharmacies:
CVS and Walgreens will not be totally shut down as they arranged reduced hours, but Rite Aid will be shut down on Christmas Day. Always confirm with local locations before you set out for the journey.
