Nigeria’s Super Eagles have officially qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after Libya’s victory over Rwanda.
The Mediterranean Knights secured a narrow 1-0 win in Kigali, with Fahd Saad Mohamed scoring a late goal. Both teams created multiple chances but struggled to convert, resulting in a tightly contested match.
Fahd Saad Mohamed scored the only goal that gave the Mediterranean Knights a 1-0 victory against Rwanda in Kigali. The two teams created a lot of beautiful attempts, but luck was not on their side, making it a keenly contested battle.
Innocent Nshuti had many attempts that would have helped Rwanda equalize or win the match, but Bader Hassan mounted his position as Libya’s goalkeeper to deny Nshuti the opportunity to score a goal. Fahd Saad Mohamed converted a pass that Nour al-Din Al Qulaib made to score the winning goal in the 84th minute after he found himself unchecked in the box.
This victory is not enough to push Libya from its bottom spot to the top, and the team now boasts four points in Group D, while Rwanda now has five points and sits in the third position.
The win helped the Super Eagles of Nigeria qualify automatically for the 2025 AFCON after leading Group D with 10 points, securing their spot in the next year’s tournament regardless of the outcome between the team and Benin Republic.
