Ivory Coast had an outstanding performance after it defeated Chad in a 4-0 game on Tuesday at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny Stadium to finish as the leader of Group G in the AFCON qualifiers.
The reigning AFCON champion, which hosted Chad, played with the determination of bouncing back from their recent setbacks in the tournament, and this effort was worth it. Vakoun Issouf Bayo scored the first goal in the 25th minute, giving the club dominance in the game.
The team maintained a 70% possession at the end of the game while they scored their second goal through Simon Adingira in the 37th minute of the game.
Chad put a lot of pressure on the second half, hoping for a miraculous comeback, but Ivory Coast did not give up on their attacks. Emmanuel Agbadou and Our Diakite scored in the second half to seal the win for Ivory Coast.
The victory secures three points for the team and gives them a spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after their qualification. Their brilliant play against Chad shows their intent to perform expectedly in the next year’s competition.
