Guiliano Simeone, the son of Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid manager, has netted his first senior goal for the club as Atletico Madrid thrashed Las Palmas 2-0 on Sunday at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Madrid, who had possession on their side, started well but could not get a goal until Guiliano Simeon converted an assist from Argentina star Nahuel Molina into a goal in the 37th minute.
The Atletico Madrid manager’s son scored the goal after he was able to break into the Las Palmas defense and completed the move with a good shot that went into the bottom left of the goalpost post, giving Atletico Madrid the lead.
Antoine Griezmann missed an opportunity that would have doubled the team’s lead just before halftime, but his shot hit the crossbar, ending the first half at 1-0.
The second half was more like the first half, where few chances were made by the two teams. Atletico sealed their victory with another goal from the team’s new signing, Alexander Sørloth, through an assist by another Argentina star, Rodrigo de Paul.
This win for Atletico Madrid secures them a confident three points as they continue to hope for a better time in the La Liga title journey, with the two goals leaving a record of contributions from a young talent and a new signing.
