Getafe Ends Winless Steak After Beating Real Valladolid 2-0

Getafe scored a double against struggling Real Valladolid to end their five-match winless run in the La Liga campaign on Friday night at the Estadio Coliseum.

While both sides needed to win the game due to their struggling status recently, the host depended on the confidence at home, which has seen them win six out of their seven league games this season.

The host’s dedication manifested in the 2-0 win against Real Valladolid, just a win since the team has participated in the opening weekend of the campaign. Getafe currently boasts the best home record away from the league’s top seven.

The first half of the game was not too impressive, but things took a new turn when Paulo Pezzolano, the head coach of Real Valladolid, received a red card and was sent off the pitch when he complained about the referee’s decision.

The two teams did not have the game easy; they both struggled to deliver a goal until almost the end minute before Getafe finally found the back of the net.

Alvaro Rodriguez, who joined Getafe as a loanee from Real Madrid, delivered the club’s first goal with a calculated strike, breaking the deadlock.

Not too long after Rodriguez’s goal, Allan Nyom took up the chances and converted a loose ball in the penalty area to deliver Getafe’s second goal since he rejoined the team in October. The late goal helped Getafe to quench their taste for a much-needed victory, while the loss for Real Valladolid caused more trouble for them in the La Liga tournament.
