Julian Alvarez and Angel Correa shined as Sparta Prague were humiliated by Atletico Madrid on Tuesday in a 6-0 game.
The commanding victory leaves Atletico Madrid with a total of nine points after featuring in five matches, while Sparta Prague remains at four points.
The first goal of the match was scored in the 15th minute by Alvarez after firing a well-calculated free kick into the top corner of the net when Sparta committed a foul near the box.
Marcos Llorente scored another goal in favor of Atletico Madrid, dominating the team’s lead with a great shot that confused goalkeeper Peter Vindahl.
As the match clocked 59 minutes, Alvarez scored his second goal after a slick one-two with Giuliano Simeone. In the 70th minute, Antoine Griezmann, who came in as a substitute, scored the team’s fourth goal, converting a nice exchange with Llorente.
Correa sealed the win with two goals as the match neared its end, after first converting a pass from Samuel Lino and then moving freely through Sparta’s poor defense.
Head coach Simeone made six substitutions after his 700th game in charge, enjoying the match and seeing his squad dominating as Sparta managed only one tame effort in the early minutes of the game.
The consistent attack from Atletico revealed the Czech champions’ poor defense, with goalkeeper Vindahl making good saves to save his team from further damage.
The team will now host Slovan Bratislava on the 10th of December in the league phase.
